TIPS FOR SELLING HOME
The following tips have been compiled from several individuals
who have had success selling their home.
FIX APPEARANCE "LITTLE THINGS MATTER"
- Use high quality materials in repairs and restoration,
makes result more appealing to potential buyer's.
- Yard free of clutter
- Fix loose roof shingles
- Plant few flowers
- Make sure doorbell works
- Trim paint around entrance
- Plastic switch plates on light switches
- All rooms should be bright colors, paint the dark rooms,
this causes a subtle effect on the buyer, making the home
look well kept and cared for and clean.
- Have a moving sale prior to showing, get rid of all junk,
open space in closets, cabinets and garage will give more
spacious appearance
- Fix items which need repair: leaky faucets, squeaky
doors, loose knobs, sticking doors/drawers, etc.
- Assist Realtor in gathering facts on home
WHEN SHOWING
- Put lights on in every room to give vistors a bright warm
feeling.
- Open drapes/curtains/shades
- Light fireplace or turn air conditioning lower than
normal, will emphasize the benefit of each
- Play tasteful music in background
- Put carpet scraps at the top of basement steps, at the
bottom of the attic steps, and by all the outside doors.
Vistors can then wipe their shoes off when coming back
into the house from these areas. It is believed that if
you don't do this, people get so worried about tracking
dirt on to the carpets, they stop looking at the house
and watch where they've been walking.
